A weekend home…

DSC_1034

Last weekend was my first trip home since the new year and also my younger brothers 18th birthday! I was picked up from Uni on Wednesday the 14th (inconvenient as it meant postponing valentines day) to come home for a long weekend. The four days home felt more like two minutes. I was busy everyday trying to fit in visits to everyone before Sunday night.

On the Thursday I managed to cram in shopping for new bedding and a beach walk with my mum, my brother and our dog…. the top picture is what resulted when my brother tried to use my camera. One blurry ass picture! But still kinda useful for a background I guess haha.

It was freeing cold and grey and windy but I still enjoyed having a semi-relaxing first day home. Bella also enjoyed it as she managed to find big pile of rope and a stick to play with… I then drove home with numb feet.                                                                                  Top tip: Wear shoes with socks and definitely NOT white ones!!

Friday came and I woke up early at around 6am. I took this chance to be productive and ended up painting the wall above my desk a light grey colour before anyone else in the house was even awake. I’m actually very proud of my handy work. in the evening we went to a pub called ‘The Brown Cow’ for a family meal to celebrate my brothers 18th. There was also a surprise as my cousin had been to the pub earlier in the day to drop off balloons and a cake ……. have to say it was a shock and we were all very confused about how they had gotten there.

I ordered the usual vegetarian cannelloni (which comes with chips and garlic bread for extra carbs?!?) even though I did go with the intention of trying something new haha . Old habits die hard…IMG_5448

I dressed casually for the meal as it is a casual pub and usually cold so a skirt was out of the window immediately. I wore my new suede jacket from pretty little thing that I’m kinda obsessed with at the moment – I managed to grab it on sale after having my eye on it for months!!

IMG_5462Then on Sunday, the whole family came around for a buffet style lunch/party. I ate way too much party food… fair to say I was definitely well fed this weekend! At around 4pm I had to leave to go back to Uni ready for Monday.

Now, looking back on the weekend it felt so short and rushed, I was literally busy every day and still didn’t manage to fit in seeing all my friends while I was there……hopefully next time!

…and I think I’ll finish off this post with potentially the best picture I’ve ever taken.     (God bless dogs)DSC_1054

A January Review

….. What better way to begin a new blog than with a review of the beginning of 2018. January was a month filled with a stress in the form of exams and a big change for me but it honestly flew by.

I began the new year celebrating in Manchester with my closest friends from school, we IMG_8385all travelled down on the train and stayed overnight at my friends house. We had booked a table at the Slug & Lettuce to have some food and cocktails, Pornstar martinis being the drink of choice as always- basic I know. May I also recommend something the “Raving rainbow” cocktail if you ever find yourself there. Afterwards we moved on to Revs to see out the night and the year. In the early hours of the morning we headed back to the house to enjoy a nice little sleep with the six of us being crammed in to two beds. we then dragged our tired, hung-over butts to the train station the next morning to travel home again. Unfortunately for me I arrived home to find that my Nanna had come over for a family new years dinner so I didn’t have a chance to catch some sleep before being thrown into family socializing again haha.

A few days later it was time to go back to university and try to survive exam season, which I did….. but I think the stress got to me! on the morning of my last exam I decided that enough was enough, if my hair wasn’t growing anyway then I may as well have a bob. So I took it upon myself to chop my own hair into a long bob. Kinda Estee LaLonde style (see Instagram: @esteelalonde). So overnight my hair went from long-ish (boob length?) to the LaLonde as seen below…..

Quite a change for someone who’s been trying to grow their hair for the last god knows how many years!!! I have to say I’m kind of loving it though.

Exams ended and I had a spare week before lectures started back up again, so took the opportunity to visit “The Humblest of Pleasures” a tiny vegan café I’d been stalking on Instagram for a while (@humblestofpleasures). The café looked so cute, pink themed and plants? Yes please. I was shocked to find out  it was only a 40 minute drive away, so made the trip one weekend with my boyfriend (who refuses to be pictured).

IMG_9014 *Disclaimer: I am not vegan and never will be, i’m afraid my love of cheese and ice cream runs too deep! – but I can still appreciate good food*

Did I drive 40 mins for the aesthetic? – Maybe.  (Plant lover here, hello.)                            Did I drive 40 mins for the pancakes? – Definitely!

……..but we missed out by arriving just a tiny bit too late for the breakfast menu. So instead I ordered a loaded jacket potato with bean chilli and guacamole. Can honestly say it was delicious, the Instagram pictures had done it justice and I was not disappointed!!  Next time I’m definitely having the pancakes though. That’s if I can drag my ass out of bed in time.

That’s all for January. Thanks for reading my first blog post, I’m hoping to have new content out soon!! Including some fashion, some travel and other lifestyle related posts.                                                                                                                                                       Stay tuned,
